    Digg Un-dugg

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology...ive-censorship

Words from a member of a 'bury brigade':

"The more liberal stories that were buried the better chance conservative stories have to get to the front page. I'll continue to bury their submissions until they change their ways and become conservatives."

Thanks for trying to shrink my world, assholes! Good thing it's infinite.

It's not like religious old timers are logging on to Digg just to bury stuff. These bury brigades are full of ego-centric, close-minded, conspiracy-theorizing, farther-right-than-right-field assholes between ages 15-30 who feel it necessary to bring a 'balance' to the stories on Digg.

Digg doesn't create a balance. It just caters to popular internet opinion.
    ...and that's why.

Right. It's not intended to balance everything, it's intended to be an accurate representation of the opinions of its users. What you glean from that is your own business, but blindly burying everything that runs counter to the most conservative of views paints an intentionally skewed picture, and anything based on it is a lie. The website was designed to provide users with the ability to bury stories that they feel are un-important, but there's a growing feeling that the ability to 'bury' should be removed. If you don't think something is important, DON'T DIGG IT.
