Except this entrepreneur was a 7-year-old named Julie Murphy. Her business was a lemonade stand at the Last Thursday monthly art fair in Northeast Portland. The government regulation she violated? Failing to get a $120 temporary restaurant license.

Ha. The Portland Police patrolled through the park yesterday on ATV's. I guess it's easier to crack down on beer-drinking adults in the park and lemonade-slinging kids at the festival than tasering meth-heads and retards.

Honestly, I find this story to be absolutely hilarious, especially after the health department called to apologize and admit what they did was idiotic rather than justify their blunder. It's like it came straight out of some blunt political satire or exaggerated cartoon.

This IS ridiculous, though. Shutting down a kid's lemonade stand because she didn't have a permit? The silliest part is that some people will see it as a vast left-wing conspiracy.
