Re: Moving Songs
I notice this all the time.
Green Day ~ Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) - I can't do anything at all while listening to this song. I just have to let it play. And then I have to let it play again.
Insane Clown Posse ~ Nothing's Left - This song, despite the critics of ICP's music, is one of the most intensely chilling songs I've ever heard about the state of the world.
The Offspring ~ The Kids Aren't Alright - Something about this song hits home with me, and if I'm feeling depressed about not getting to see my friends in Ohio, or wishing that I still lived in Ohio, I put this on and hit Repeat, and it makes me re-realize my station in life if I had remained in Ohio.
Bob Dylan ~ Blowin' in the Wind - Everything about this song I love.
'The Rock' score ~ Main Theme - Something about this song's first and second climactic peaks just chills my bones and sends shivers up my spine.
Lord of the Rings ~ Requiem - Nowhere to be found in the actual movies, but played for the trailer to The Two Towers and apparently in the video games. Variations of the Requiem appear in 'Requiem for a Dream' and I also like those, but they don't have the epic feel of the LOTR Requiem.
Nightwish ~ Over the Hills and Far Away - Another one of those epic songs that just requires you to sit and listen until it's over.
Enya ~ Anywhere Is - This song is neither epic nor emotional, but it has such a bubbly evanescent feeling to it that I love it.
Escaflowne Soundtrack ~ Memory of Fanelia - One of the most beautiful songs I can recall having heard."Mindless killing doesn't do a lot for me anymore." - Sampson

Re: Moving Songs
These songs have been known to alter my mood or actions:
Harry Chapin ~ "Cats In The Cradle"
Makes me think about my Dad, and my unborn children at the same time. Nearly made me cry once.
Chicago ~ "If You Leave Me Now"
I don't know why, but this song makes me teary-eyed everytime I hear it. It is also the "prettiest" song I've ever heard.
Steppenwolfe ~ "Born To Be Wild"
The song that nearly gave me a speeding ticket because whenever I hear it I put the pedal to the metal.
There are others I will think of later.Lil' Bean is here!

Re: Moving Songs
I can think of a few songs that I really get into.
Ministry - "The Fall"
This was the first ministry song I ever heard, and it came on the radio without any indication of who the artist was. I stopped what I was doing, and just sat there and listened to it. I was entranced. Everytime I hear it, I crank the sound up to about 80 decibels and just let it all sink in.
Enya - "Cursum Perficio"
This always reminds me of Final Fantasy boss music, and I just sit there and think about what kind of awesome battle might unfold to this song.
Moby - "Myopia"
I used to sit in my 3rd floor single dorm room and stare out the window at the endless blue sky. This song would always take me up to the clouds.
Pearl Jam - "Oceans"
My god, how many times have I heard this song? Doesn't matter, I'll stop whatever I'm doing and just listen.
Aphex Twin - "Track 9" aka "Tree"
One of the most haunting songs from Aphex Twin's ambient collection (volume 2). It always reminds me of Silent Hill music, and I'm sure Akira Yamaoka took some inspiration from it. Even though the song is over nine minutes long, I find myself at its mercy almost every time.Eat Smello.

Hank Williams - I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry
Great song, makes you feel like a piece of ****.
Hank Williams is just great. Great nostalgic, country songs. It's a shame he died so young (at 29 and over 50 years ago!)
Also, Subterranean Homesick Blues is a song that just makes you want to (in a vain attempt) spew out all the crazy lyrics as fast as you can. A few times, some friends and I will put it on and sing it all together.
"...johnny's in the basement, mixing up the medicine...."
Good times.Last edited by jvrlopez; 07-12-2005, 11:11 AM.

Re: Moving Songs
-Van der Graaf Generator "Lost"
Despite how depressing this song is, I fall in love with it every time.
-Cynic "How Could I?"
Everything about this song is done right. And it feels right. Oh, it's amazing.
-Camel "Dunkirk"
Just gets me really excited, listening to the battle unfold. It's a tons more powerful when you listen to the entire album though.
-XTC "Burning With Optimisim's Flames"
I don't know why I like this song so much, but it makes me happy.
-Porcupine Tree "The Creator Had a Mastertape"
I've listened to this song countless times, it just overwhelms me.
-Porcupine Tree "How Is Your Life Today?"
The song that forever hooked me on Porcupine Tree. Simple, yet stunning.

YES, REQUIEM FOR THE RINGS!!!Originally posted by Big Rick CookLord of the Rings ~ Requiem - Nowhere to be found in the actual movies, but played for the trailer to The Two Towers and apparently in the video games. Variations of the Requiem appear in 'Requiem for a Dream' and I also like those, but they don't have the epic feel of the LOTR Requiem.
That music made for one of the most memorable theater experiences. All my friends and I went to see Red Dragon and much to our surprise there was a Two Towers trailer. Now, we all had this stellar film class in high school in which we were exposed to Requiem for a Dream... and well, y'know, lives were changed. So when the Two Towers trailer got into full swing someone with a sharp ear asked, "Is that... Requiem?" Someone else agreed, "Requiem!!" "REQUIEM!!!" "REQUIEEEEEEMMMM!!!!!!" And we all splooged all over each other.
Fantastic times. That's one of the best trailers ever cut and definitely one of the coolest pieces of badass music to listen to, along with Duel of the Fates, during Halo 2 marathons.
But um................. moody songs....
"Delicate" by Damien Rice and "3 Libras" by A Perfect Circle are good and depressing.
"Nobody Does it Better", the Carly Simon version or the live Radiohead cover, may be the most inspirational/day-brightenining things ever produced.
The Beastie Boys version of "Benny and the Jets" is also hilariously upbeat.

Re: Moving Songs
There are so many songs that move me, but the one that comes to mind most is "Anata" by L'arc~en~ciel. It's my favourite love song of all time, and it always gets me misty-eyed.
The translation of the song is absolutely beautiful."They shouldn’t have called it Earth, they should have just called it the wipe-your-own-butt planet."
