How do you obtain your music~

With me I tend to preview things on youtube, and then order the CD online or through the CD place out here because they have a crappy selection in store.

It takes them like 4 weeks or more to get the freaking CDs I order, and I end up just finding a torrent on the internet to listen to it in the meantime. I still pay for the CD when they get it get it, but then I delete the torrent version, and rip super high quality versions of all the songs right off the CD.

I guess thats supposed to be a bad thing to do, but I still end up buying the CD!

Most stuff, I grab on itunes. other stuff, I prefer to have it physical. but that's rare just because I hate going shopping for CDs, or waiting for it to come in the mail.

Preview stuff on Youtube/Amazon MP3 sample pages, then buy it if I like it. Every so often I'll have a lapse and torrent some music I like, but I always buy the CD if it's in print and available.

Usually what I hear on the radio, I look up on itunes.

Or in other cases, I'll see an album's cover and search youtube for songs. If I like it, I buy the actual CD.

I don't buy too many CDs these days, but I mostly just import my stuff since I've been getting into more music from outside the U.S.

I try to replace the MP3s I really love with CDs, too, because using a nice audio system means that MP3s can't really compare.

I listen to All Songs Considered on NPR to hear something new. Or Pandora, but lately that's been drudging up the same things.

Then, if I really like the band or feel generous in my pockets I go to iTunes.

otherwise I c/p this into a google search:

                -inurlhtm|html|php) intitle:”index of” +”last modified” +”parent directory” +description +size +(wma|mp3) “Song/Artist Title”

It's a grab bag on whether the site actually has the mp3 for download, but if you look hard enough you might find what you're looking for. I got Beatles music this way, and several vidya OST's

I buy CDs, I like having the physical media. I usually go to a used cd shop for them. But also FYE has like all CDs for 10 dollars each, usually what's in stock is a little finicky but more often than not it's worked out for me.

I usually torrent them, and if I like them enough I'll most likely want an actual CD to take with me on trips and listen to when the computer isn't nearby. The genuine CDs beat the burned ones simply for the fact that the genuine ones don't have that irritating pause between tracks. Oh, and consistent bitrate and quality.

Torrent 90%. If I really respect the artist/band, I'll buy.

But I generally spend several hundred dollars on concerts per year, and the vast majority of that money goes to the artists themselves (unlike CD sales where most of the money goes to the record bureaucracy). Therefore, I don't feel bad whatsoever.

Torrents. I'll buy a record on vinyl if I feel like it. Online pre-orders and record-store treasure hunts.
