They always find some excuse to butt in on everything, don't they?

That octopus is probably smarter than they are. Here it gets free food, and doesn't have to worry about predators. I'm sure it's happy where it is.

Although the real joke here is PETA.

The death threats have done nothing to frighten Paul, claimed his caretaker, Oliver Walenciak.

“There are always people who want to eat our octopus but he is not shy and we are here to protect him as well,” Walenciak said. “He will survive.”

Walenciak even said Paul would offer a prediction for Germany’s third-place game against Uruguay on Saturday. If the octopus knows what’s good for him, he’ll pick the Deutschland.

All this coverage has been positively hilarious, and I reaelly love the responses that Paul's caretakers have given.

Yeah, if the octopus could talk he'd probably tell PETA to stuff it. Look at the Free Willy killer whale, Keiko. They lobby for years to get him loose. He's taken out of the tank, put in the ocean, and in a couple years he gets pneumonia, beaches himself, and dies.
