Happy Celebrate Your Country's Freedom Day!

Seeing as how a vast majority on this site are from the United States, I thought I would combine this year's thread about the upcoming holiday.

So, what are you plans for July 1st/July 4th this year??? Do you have any favourite memories from said holidays past?

Karr, a few friends, and I are going to a late screening of Eclipse. I'll flat out admit I am a fan of the books... the others just come to laugh at the sparkly vampire.

When we leave the theater, it will officially be Canada Day! One friend is staying the night as she works early in the morning, and then a few of us are heading north to her mom's house in Barrie for the weekend... where there will be lots of drinking... and pyrotechnics... and Red Bull

I love Canada Day more than my birthday... so proud to be a bacon-eating, hockey-cheering, beaver loving Canadian.

    What.... wha...?

Re: Happy Celebrate Your Country's Freedom Day!

I hate this week more often than not anymore.

Every year the place I work has a "Plant Shutdown" the week of July 4th.

It sucks because if you want to get paid for it, you have to use your vacation time for it!! I would never want to use my vacation during holiday times. Travel is the worst, and everyplace is crowded, and this time of year the weather is usually hot and sticky so even just staying home can suck.

It sucks even more because we don't get sick days or personal days (we have to use our vacation days for that!), so if you want to get paid this week, you can't have used too much time for that kind of stuff either.

This year I used a lot of time for Blizzards which kept me at home, I had my own illness which made me miss time, and I have a 90 year old mother to take care of which causes me to miss more and more time each year.

I just resent being told when to use my vacation time! It's the only benefit we get on my job!! No 401 K - no health insurance, not even "incentive bonuses" for good work or perfect attendance.

So I may have a week off, but I still resent it!!

    Oh well...

I guess it could be worse.

So I'm just trying to re-learn RPGMaker 2 and find my old memory cards (which are hiding from me!!) so I can finish up my old projects, and / or maybe start a new one...

    MOO!

I love fireworks. Saw a bunch of kids shooting them at each other last night, it was so pretty.

Probably getting stuck with young fanboys/girls that hang out with my group of chick friends. These kids ****ing annoy the hell out of me with all of their comments about how I'm a [insert console-user derogetory remark], even though I own multiple consoles... And why a biased website is biased because of a review, waa, waa, waa....

I should really reschedule something like BBQ, booze, a movie and the chick friends...minus the unbearable fanboy party. Then I could call it a happy 4th.

I for one think people who randomly light firecrackers in the middle of neighborhoods are annoying little bastards. But then again I'm probably one step below throwing things at people and telling them to get off my lawn.

I will celebrate the independence of my nation by blowing up a small part of it.

Happy Canada's days and Happy 4th July .

In Quebec we already get our national day the 24th june . It's call St-Jean batiste. Some city in Quebec make a party for the Canada's day but not all . Most of the Québécois ( yes it's still ''Québécois'' in english ) it's moving's days the 1st July . That because of a separatist

I'm proud to be canadian to .

When I was a kid, me and a friend of mine never knew what the team name of the Quebec NHL franchise was, so we called them the Quebec Quebeckers.

PS: Turns out they were the Nordiques. Probably because Canadiens, Canucks, and Maple Leafs were already taken.

I read about that! Apparently it is impossible to try and rent a moving van/company on July 1st in Quebec.

When we had the earthquake here in Toronto last week, people were like, "Pfft, that wasn't an earthquake... that was Quebec finally separating!"

I'm going up to my cabin and helping at a 4th of July rodeo at this one horse trainers place. There's a silent auction, rodeo, and pig roast on Saturday, and then breakfast, riding in the parade, and some more rodeo events on Sunday.

I've helped for the past two years (ever since he started holding it), and it's great fun!

I'm marching in 3 different parades on the 4th. It's going to be hot, sweaty, etc.

I'm not a big fan of the whole firecracker thing (even though they're illegal here, that just makes it more fun for people). For this next coming week, people shoot them off like no tomorrow and my dog flips out every time.

It's great. Er, no, the other thing.

That has to be frustrating for those people in Quebec who finally realized on July 1st that they live in Quebec, and thus want to get the hell out of there as fast as humanly possible.

I'm not celebrating anything independence-related until September 21st.

Although there will be a 4th of July fireworks show considering there's a large number of U.S. expats here, so I might attend that. My step-father is one of the two pyrotechnicians for it.

We also celebrate Guy Fawkes here, but I'll be in England for that anyway.

I'll be enjoying a BBQ, booze, and hopefully some fireworks with friends. I'd also like to film a smashing video or two.
