    Video Card

Looking to save up for one that'll enable me to play all the current-gen stuff at low to moderate quality.

Based on a few google article searches, I'm eyeballing this guy.

My computer has ample space for a 2-slot PCI card. I'm just worried about power consumption. This requires 500-600W tops, and my computer only offers 200W (no greater than 250W it says).

    here's my other specs:

Processor: 3.00 GHz AMD Athlon II X2 250
    RAM: 4.00 GB
    HD: 585 GB
    2 PCI-e slots
1 fan for the power supply
    200W power supply

What do I go about getting to increase the power supply, if at all?

Is this a good card pick or do you know of a better one? I'm not worried about cash, though I'd rather not spend more than 350, (450 total when you include fans/PSU's).
    ...and that's why.

200W power supply? I didnt even know they made them that low.

You could probbaly buy a nice 500W-600W one for like $50-$80. Power supplys are easy as hell to replace and change.

It's a fairly cheap tower with a 5 year old video card. It plays UT2k4 at top specs but not much more than that.

I got it with the expectation of upgrading it.

Could you recommend a power supply? There's too many variables included when picking stuff like this.
      ...and that's why.

        Re: Video Card

I just went to a PC store and bought a 600W one for like $90 two years ago. I dont really know about the specs for these things. I just took out my old one and stuck the new one in and plugged everything back together and it ran just fine. :I

Actually heres the exact one. Its still in my old computer with my 8800GT. It runs great. Quiet, no problems or anything with it. Apparently the poeple that left user reviews have ahd bad luck with them. :V

If you're looking for a video card, my friend has been peddling his Frozr like a whore for the last week or so. Here's his Facebook. Because, damn it, it will shut him up.

What's the point of having an emergency response system if you can't provoke the wrath of God?

Den, what are the other specs on the computer?

Reason being: the card that you linked to is pretty much the third best video card in existence. If the rest of the rig is garbage, putting a luxury card like that in is a waste of money. You'd be better off buying a card for $130 and putting the rest of money towards upgrading other components. You'd get better performance that way.

How do you check what power supply you have

Also all this PCI card business confuses me. How do I check what kind of slots I have? {:3

Oh, so I have to open up the computer, then. HP locks this **** up so tight you feel like you're gonna break something. Guess I'm stuck with what I got~

You probably need a screwdriver to open yours up. Maybe a little common sense too. :B

there's usually just two or three big-ass thumbscrews on the back for one of the side plates to come off.
