    AOL Stinks. (Please help me.)

    I'm sure you already knew this, but it does stink.

    I logged on to AIM tonight and my entire buddy list was completely gone. I shut it off and restarted it and nothing. The program demanded I upgrade it, so I installed the new one, hoping that AIM would then bring back all my contacts. Nope. They are totally gone. I even added a new one, shut AIM down for a minute and reloaded it, and THAT one had been deleted.

    What the hell is going on here? Does anyone know exactly how I can restore my buddy list? I had tons of screen names and there's no way I'll remember all of those. The last saved one I had is from at least six years ago, so that's no good either.

    I am REALLY mad. None of the site's help topics cover this, and you can't contact their support unless you're a paying member. HA! Right.

    Anyway. If anyone can help me get my damn buddy list back, I would be most grateful. Perhaps even grateful enough to draw a chibi or something. I still do that, on occasion, y'know.

    Edit: FFFFFFFFFF. It remembered exactly how I like my text, font and color, but deleted all my friends? SERIOUSLY? (Still really mad.)

    Try a multi-messenger program like Pidgin. sign in with your AIM info, and it might be able to pull the info?

      It was a good idea in theory, but it says, "Unable to add Buddy1 for unknown reason X_X". I want to kill AOL.

          Yeah, Pidgin seems to have lost all my AIM buddies as well.

            ed. I've never encountered the problem of losing an AOL contact list, but I also haven't used AIM in three years or so.
            What's the point of having an emergency response system if you can't provoke the wrath of God?

              Sorry to hear that happened, Rena. And thanks for the warning, because I was going to upgrade this weekend.

              Perhaps they'll roll back their Databases if there are a lot of people who lose their buddy lists, so don't do anything desperate if you can avoid it.

                The thing is, it had disappeared even BEFORE I upgraded. It was FINE yesterday, so I have no idea what happened, but I'm royally ******.

                Thankfully, you're right - it seems like I'm not the only one having this problem. I'm going to cross my fingers and hope for the best.

                Edit: Buddy list is back, but it's showing as nobody is online at all, which is irregular. >_>;; Will check it out again tomorrow.

                Furthermore, the next three people to post Kaflargh in hot pink, sized 7 font will receive a chibi of their choosing. Just effin because. =D

                          It's not the program she's using that was the problem. There was a server problem, obviously, where the information is normally kept and was lost for a bit.

                              Daigle is probably right. If more than one person had the same problem it's probably the server. Otherwise, you may need to contact a Wizard of some sort. Probably Gandalf.
