    Moving to NYC

Yeeha, I just found out yesterday that I'm going to be in New York for the fall semester next year.

    1) What Pavilionites live in NYC?
    2) Where should I live? I'm only gonna be there 1 semester and am working in the middle of Manhattan (right about here). Money isn't a *huge* issue, in that I'd rather pay a small amount more if it means a more pleasant stay or a shorter commute.

    Any suggestions?

My suggestion is to visit the Torres brothers in New Joisey while you're in New York.

I will probably be moving to Queens in the near future, myself.

I would not want to live there, *especially* Manhattan; NYC itself is unappetizing enough based on cost of living...

Just parking a car in the dense areas of the city will cost you more than renting an apartment in the U.S. midwest...

I suggest writing up a mock budget of what you will pay for rent, utilities, transportation, ect. Have someone who lives in New York critique it for you. You need to get a realistic expectation of what your expenses will be depending on where you live, whether you choose to own an automobile or not, how far you are from work, ect.

Biking instead of driving ends up being for many the only affordable way to live there.

I know a couple that moved to Manhattan and have been juggling between apartments and temporary homelessness because they can't seem to afford anything they land (how they're affording to break leases I don't know; how they are affording ANYTHING I don't know.)
Their single bedroom apartment was literally three rooms in I want to say less than 600 sq feet and they were paying somewhere above 1000.

Um, I bet on campus options are more affordable if you're attending a university.
