    Mega Man Zero Collection

Out now for the DS, you get all four MMZ games for $30, with a bunch of bonus features and a new easy mode that takes you through all four games in chronological order. You can also re-map controls to use the Y and X buttons, so you arent stuck with only the awkward A and B buttons

I have all four GBA games, but I got this anyways. the control options make the games much easier to play. Looking forward to seeing all the bonus features. Not looking forward to doing 100% no-cyber-elf runs again.

Can you use Y and B for shoot and jump like in Mega Man X?

How easy is easy? Is it finally possible to beat that goddamn phoenix boss in MMZ2?

I dunno how easy easy is, because I'm not playing that mode.

You can set up the controls pretty much however you want. you configure the GBA-standard buttons in the actual game, but then on the touch screen, you get a seperate screen that lets you configure X and Y.

Amazon won't even ship it to an APO, which is kinda gay. But if I see it around here I'll probably pick it up, I loved those games.

                    Re: Mega Man Zero Collection

I was never a big Mega Man fan. Honestly, I never quite understood the hype. For me, it's kinda like Faraday. On the surface, he's sorta interesting as a character. But a lot of his acting and mannerisms seem a bit overdone. As in, he's going out of his way to seem twitchy (yeah, Sawyer even gives him this nickname) and "odd."

It's kinda the same with Mega Man. It seems as if the big draw to the series is its difficulty level, and how it requires precision. This honestly seems overdone as well. It's like the developers go out of their way to artificially inflate the difficulty level and add weird, quirky bosses to give the game some semblance of originality.

And then, the producers of LOST seemed to make Faraday and his time travel theories the focus of season five, and pretty much hang the entire story arc that season around it. It worked with Desmond. But lightning can only strike so many times before it becomes a bit old.

This is like Mega Man as well. I only played Mega Man 3, and did not really remember, but looked on Wikipedia just now to find out that the robot girl and the robot dog were both introduced in that game. This is like Faraday's introduction in season 4. At the time, he was a new character, so I was interested, especially after his profession was revealed. But then later episodes either directly or indirectly focused on him, and it took away from some of the other characters and plotlines. It's probably the same with the later Mega Man games. The robot dog and the robot girl most likely took something away from Mega Man himself, who was a character we as a game-playing audience were already invested in.

I feel the same way about Yoshi in the Mario series as well, but I don't even wish to touch on that any further.

I did like Mega Man 3, and I did also like at least one episode Faraday figured heavily in. That was Jughead, but mainly, it was for that cute young blonde niblet portraying young Ellie Hawking. His major centric episode, The Variable, as a whole, I did not care for. His relationship with Widmore and Eloise Hawking (especially the latter, obviously) seemed a bit too scripted, and I didn't buy Faraday's breaking down crying in the least. It was not in the least bit convincing.

This is similar to the game Dr. Wily's Mean Robotic Parts-Building Machine. It was obviously a takeoff on the similarly-named Sonic spinoff game, which in turn was obviously directly ripped off of Dr. Mario. It was not a convincing game concept in the slightest bit. One game or series has some success, and everyone else wants to emulate that to grab a piece of the cash pie.

Kinda like Heroes. They even have an Asian guy who the show uses subtitles for. Hmmmm....

I caved and bought this yesterday. I was going to wait and see if I could get it for the rewards program, but I got impatient. I've never played any of the games, so this will be interesting.

This review helped convince me to get it:
