I saw it at BB for $40 and decided I need to get my racing fix. I'm just past the Mid-Season Spectacular in my Single Player campaign.

I've tried getting into Public games online and had no luck. I don't know if there just weren't enough people or what. I was able to race a guy after an invitation. I was horribly outclassed.

So. If anyone else has this or plans to get it, feel free to hit me up. I'll happily detonate myself for your amusement.

So, I realize I'm probably just talking to myself here, but...

They released a patch almost right after my initial post and public games online are fairly easy to get into now. I haven't experienced any lag at all, and so far there aren't any widely exploited glitches or anything ruining the fun. Once or twice I've been booted from a server or had something weird happen during a race where I couldn't attribute it to the normal action, but this might happen in 1% of my overall online play.

I wish they would separate people using widely different tiers of cars out to have more competitive brackets, but sometimes there just aren't enough people. It does make for some variety, and I've had fun running mid-tier cars against top-tier guys before.

The solo season offline is fun, but your AI opponents operate on a completely different level, so much so that it feels unfair at times, but it's still possible to win all 12 episodes. It's never Street Fighter boss broken. The most fun is definitely against human opponents, with the capacity for occasional brilliance and self-destruction.

Edit: If they took this exact game and changed the setting to post-apocalypse, Terr would never see the sun again.

The game's physics model is too arcade-like for my liking. I'm patiently waiting for the release of Gran Turismo 5.

GT5 better have something fresh after being so long in development. I liked GT4, but all the choice physics and car models in the world don't make up for rubberband AI and repercussion-less collisions. Generally speaking, it was a game that wore out its welcome long before I approached the end.

I didn't play GT5 Prologue, so I don't know whether it had an online component, but a deep online community with a variety of events at different skill levels would be the only draw to me.
