    Splice: "Sweep The Leg, Johnny."

There were three midnight premieres. Killers, Get Him To The Greek, and Splice, a film about two genetic engineers who create this "thing" using animal and human DNA.

I decided to see Splice out of curiosity...and because it seemed kinda interesting.

    My review:

    No snacks this time.

It was alright, I liked it for what it was. If you're a fan of Frankenstein type films I'm sure you'll enjoy seeing the development of Dren, the hybrid thing. The performances were decent at best but you never get to know much about the scientists that create Dren. Though I don't think you're supposed to since the real star of the film is the experiment, not it's creators.

This was supposed to be a serious film about serious issues. The audience turned it into a comedy.

    *** SPOILERS ***
Dude ****s Dren. Dren rapes chick.
    *** END SPOILERS ***

I actually laughed at a few of the scenes myself. I couldn't help it, there were just some really strange things that happened. Yeah, I know, a lot of other movies have weirder **** than this.

No claps at the end. Things I heard people say during the credits:

    "that was laughably bad."

    "well, it was interesting."

"hahahahahaha!" This guy had a very annoying laugh.

I probably should have saw Greek instead.

Seeing the trailers for this movie always gave me the impression that this movie seems like a throwback to 50s/60s sci-fi horror, particularly the kind that always seemed to end up on MST3K.

Guess I'll have to give it a watch, and evaluate its riffing potential... when it hits store shelves on DVD, of course.

It's from the guy who did Cube. Cube was dark and serious yet still pretty campy/funny. David Cronenberg movies fit in that same mold. A lot of good horror is funny!

I look forward to checking out Splice for myself. It wasn't on my radar at all until it got some decent press/I learned the Cube guy did it.

I got all excited when someone told me it was doing a free early premiere in OKC, then I looked it up and it wasn't early or free in anywhere but LA and NYC. Then I punched the guy who told me that LIE.

I saw Get Him To the Greek. it was pretty funny! I enjoyed it. I didn't think Jonah Hill or Russell Brand were strong enough to carry an entire movie by themselves, but I was wrong.
