I didn't particularly care for it; it was a modern adaptation(at the time) of Joseph Conrad's "Heart of Darkness", but with the story somewhat butchered. It did have some good moments, including a tiger mauling and the depiction of dead Vietnamese people hanging naked from trees. The tiger mauling scene is the best part of the entire movie, IMO. I'm fairly certain there are no tiger maulings in Apocalypse Now. Chef goes into the jungle to get some mangos, and a tiger jumps out, which pretty much pushes him over the line of sanity. A cow gets slaughtered live on film (meaning, it's not fake) with machetes, juxtaposed against Kurtz having the same done to him by Martin Sheen's character while The Doors' The End plays as the climax of the film. Now THIS is the best scene in the film, without question.Comment
