I had to work, or I would've gone. It's usually a cool event.

Starba and I went to a comic shop yesterday without knowing it was Free Comic Book Day. All the good swag was gone, but the comic shop had a sale going on as well:

8 back issues of Dark Tower comics I didn't have for $2 total.
9 back issues of The Stand comics I didn't have for $2.50 total.
V for Vendetta for $10.
Second trade paperback collection (issues 7-12) of Promethea.

It was a good day.

Oh man are you kidding?! That's so freaking awesome! (First time I'm ever close to a comic shop and I miss this!)

Well, I couldn't tell you all comic shops did that. It was simply the one I went to that had some good deals.

We went to a Hastings two days before that and found the complete Watchmen for $6 used in great condition. So it's not unprecedented for me. =V

No, I remember seeing this sign saying they'd do it (plus, some clerks were talking about doing it).....It's a shame, 'cause like I said, it's a pretty good store....

Oh, and why do you say you're old?

I was referring to Starba as one of our oldest members, as in she was one of the originals.

Dude. Don't let her see you call her old. Trust me on this.

....You just read off my list of top ten favorite comic series.

Yeah, I had the same problem too. Mostly I relied on the comics subsection of out-of-town bookstores. 'Til I moved to Chicago. (I've always found a charm with small comic stores.)

Once a year some comic stores give away comics for free or a reduced price.
