What I really don't get is why it's not called "The Fantastic Four." Does leaving the word "The" out of the title make it more edgy and modern?
Despite semantics, "Fantastic Four" was a fun movie. It's very comic-booky and all that implies. It's filled with week characters and paper-thin motivations, lame (but passable) special effects, and psudo science by the tons. But it also has the light hearted adventure and wacky fun of the old comic books.
Its biggest plus is actualy the way it made me belive that The Thing was made out of stone. This was achived more by grinding rock SFX when he moved, than the terrible costume. I think it looks better than a CGed Thing would have, mostly because the rest of the CG in the movie really stands out.
You'll like this movie more if you get someone else to buy your ticket for you, but movies like Spiderman 2, X-Men 2, and Batman Begins leave it far far behind. If you havn't seen Batman yet, see it first.
I give "Fantastic Four" 2 John Moras out of 5.
