    Shyness deconstructed

Yeah, this pretty much describes me to a T. I've gotten much better at being social over the years, but it's far from my nature.

Individuals with this highly sensitive trait prefer to take longer to make decisions, are more conscientious, need more time to themselves in order to reflect, and are more easily bored with small talk, research suggests.

That article describes me pretty well too, and not just the paragraph in the quote.

I've gotten over alot of my shyness over the years. But I still carry many of the traits quoted in that article.

Kinda funny that this study was conducted at my university (Stony Brook) because it routinely wins the princeton review for having the lowest morale among its student body and is filled with awful awful geeks that actually are required to take courses in how to be social in some majors.

The sensitivity trait is found in over 100 other species, from fruit flies and fish to canines and primates, indicating this personality type could sometimes provide an evolutionary advantage.
            That's interesting.

Yeah, okay, now that we know why we're ****ed up, what can we do about it?

The article makes it seem likes it's purely neurological. It's kind of hard to rewire your brain.

Over the years, I thought I've made some slight progress in my social skills.

But it takes a lot of concentration. And I'm usually stressed out while pretending I'm not stressed out.

              ****ing brains.

I guess they had enough guinea pigs to work with then.

I'm not especially sensitive to caffiene (quite the opposite I have a tolerance) and I don't cry alot, but sure, that sounds about right.

I'm stoked! this means that my ego is justified, because according to this article, I'm at an "evolutionary advantage." :3

I like how the article is saying people with neurosis are more aware of their surroundings and then the recommended articles at the bottom basically say neurological people die before everyone else. I guess you're so aware of your inevitable expiration that you will it sooner.
