Hello, I just started using the game this week, and ran into a question that I couldn't find in the manual or any FAQs. Can you force a encounter rate change midgame? My game takes place in a hotel that gets taken over by monsters, but I don't want them present at the beginning. Will I have to copy and paste two identical dungeons, one with enemies and one without, or is there a way to change this midgame? Also, is it possible to reorganize Unit Placement, so that an area will have stronger enemies when you come back to it later in the game? Thanks for any help you can give me!

Oh, and go ahead and be advanced if that's what required. If I don't understand, then I'll just wait a few weeks until I'm better with the software.

As long as that is the extent of the encounter rate change you desire, it is easy.

Just trip flag 15 (No Encounters) when they enter the map and reverse it when they leave. You'll need to do something so that it stays off after they leave. There are many ways (another flag controlling the no encounters flag so it only trips once, or maybe an event with page conditions, or more...) If that is unclear, just ask and I (or someone else) will go into detail.

Also, is it possible to reorganize Unit Placement, so that an area will have stronger enemies when you come back to it later in the game?

For this you may need two identical maps. I'll try to think of a way with only one map and post it if successful. Maybe someone else knows...

Good luck with it.

Peace.

Thanks a ton. I suppose I should probably look through the preset flags before asking anymore questions, huh?. That is pretty easy.

As for the identical maps, I guess that's not too bad, because then the look of the hotel can change (with demons running around you'd think it'd get pretty tattered). Although, that would be murder on memory...

I got it! I knew it had to be easy...

Try using the same map with a different World Organization for different monsters!

That should do it.

Peace.

FYI: There is also an Encounter Rate Variable which you can use to adjust the encounter level. It is based on a precentage of the default encounter rate (which you create under game settings). The value is normally 100 (i.e. 100% of the standard rate) Setting this number to 0 will also remove all encounters, although it's better to just trip the flag in this case.

Yeah, you could also set the variable really really high making a random battle appear every single step, but you wouldn't really want to do that.

Awesome. Thanks!
