    Minecraft

    http://minecraft.net/

    What's cool about it:

It's like multiplayer legos! You can build and destroy and explore whatever. It's still in alpha stages, and there seems to be a lot of promise behind it. The site also offers single player test demos where you fight blocky monsters. Cool!

What's not so cool about it:

    It's still in alpha stages.

It's Java run, straight from the browser.

We need to get a pav server going STAT.

edit: Nevermind! I can't get the frikkin' multiplayer to work!

    Re: Minecraft

Yeah I ****ing love the game. Ive tried setting up a server with it but I can never get it to work.

Ive considered buying it so i can get the survival mode with weapons and crafting and all that cool stuff. It basically becomes 3d Dwarf Fortress, and the guy making it hopes to add multiplayer to that mode. Its going to be so cool.

Also you need ot register a free account to use multiplayer. That might be the problem your having.

Im gonna try messing with server stuff again and see if I can get one going.

Okay got one going. I think......Its weird because it goes through internet browsers. It seems like it would be so much better if it was its own standalone program.

      BOOP

Let me know if it works. Since its not a dedicated server and Im running it through this computer when i turn the server file off the server goes off too. Since Im still messing around with it itll probably go on and off as I mess with the stats and things. Im still trying to figure out how to use all the admin stuff like kicking people. Hell right now it doesnt even think I am Admin, and it was a real pain in the ass trying to connect to my own server since its port forwarded through my router. I dunno.

Im also trying to figure out how to NOT make it a public server so we can keep the average peasant folk out of it.

Screw around in it though. let me know if its working. Dont get ****** if you build something neat and it gets erased though.

ma and caccis are building some towers. Some dude came and ****ed them all up, but I booted him and some guy gave me advice on how to make it a private server. We'll see how that goes. Im starting it up now.

try updating your java Den? Run it in firefox?

I like this game. If my girl wasn't over I'd still be playing it.

Still not working? Im using Windows 7. :I

I was having problems with it too, and uninstalled java, then went to the java site and downloaded the newest version and installed it. Minecraft still wasnt working until I went to this page.

                            http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml

I dont know why or how, or if this was what fixed it, but after going tot hat page it worked fine for me.
