What's more interesting is the fact that the world is spinning quicker and quicker. I wonder if that will cause any type of "death spiral" reaction within a few thousand years? I don't see any reason why it would, but I'm no geologist...

I'm pretty sure the Earth is continually slowing down, mainly due to tidal forces's affect on the moon. Not sure much this quake set it back though.Comment
