So I picked this up, and after about 5 minutes into the game, all I could think of was, "Oh...how quaint."
Yeah, it's remastered in high def, but there's no doubt it's still a PS2 game, and it seemed to be rapidly showing its age. Never really thought about this before, probably because the games I play on the PS2 (when I do play them) are mainly RPGs, which do not seem to age as quickly. FFXII still looks pretty good, and fighting games like Arcana Heart and especially Soul Calibur III do not really show their age as much. Soul Calibur III, in fact, being output in 720p (is this the only PS2 game that outputs in high def?) doesn't look that far off from a first gen PS3 game.
Anyone else notice how PS2 games already look dated? Which is funny, because the average Dreamcast game does not look nearly as dated as the average PS2 game.
