Yeah, ever since I first heard about this 7 or 8 months ago now, I've always thought that it seems interesting, but for some reason reason, it also seems just a little too "manufactured." Don't know how else to put it into words, but games like Braid, Flower, etc, seem to have been made with the developer following a muse that this is the game they've always envisioned.
P.B. Winterbottom seems to have been made because the developers said, "Hey, these indie art games are selling decently; let's make one similar to Braid, and make it in black and white so it looks like an old silent film. Plus, Portal had cake, so we'll use pies."
That's not to say I wouldn't pick this up. It just seems a bit forced and manufactured.
Winterbottom started as a college thesis for the same university that the founders of thatgamecompany you like so much graduated from.
So, yeah... the concept is just as much "follow your muse" as Flower which I'd say is even less so than Braid because Blow actually paid for the entire game out of his pocket.
Hard to say. Definitely completely different tone and more "focused" gameplay wise. Also, Braid kinda had me constantly in awe, while I just thoroughly enjoyed P.B., then it kinda just pulled the rug from under me in surprising me w/ blowing me away.
Braid was fun, but there were about three stages where I basically had no hope of ever figuring it out. Plus the writing was super-duper twee and way too pretentious.
