    John's too nice, man. Of course we get all the points he's making, but Joe Schmoe Fox News Watcher just gonna see his witty sucker punches as passive-aggressive meandering.

    Y'see what Bill does, though? He waits for the end of the segment to pull out his elaborate nonsense criticism. The only way for John to effectively refute it would be to go point by point explaining what doesn't make sense about his criticism. But since he doesn't have the time, the only response he has time to give is a valid but harsh generalization that'll make HIM look like the petty one in the end. And before he can elaborate WHOOP SHOW'S OVER

            So does the staff in the studio. They were quite audibly enthused by John's points, and I'm sure some were shaking their heads saying, "y'know, he's right."
