    I have an iPhone.

Tell me, techies, what should I know? Any fun Apps, preferably free or very cheap out there that I should have? Things I should avoid and possible accessories I might want or need?

The prompting of a new phone came from my old phone being 5 years old, falling apart, and in general pretty unappealing to me now, as well as my 4 year old mp3 player finally bricking and ceasing to function. So I decided to replace both at once and am pretty happy with it thus far.

    So suggestions?

If you happen to fly a lot, there's an app that tracks flights in real-time.

there's a certain app that lets you take a picture of a barcode, and it'll instantly pull up price lists of that product at competing stores.

i'm not sure if all of these are free, though.
    ...and that's why.

Quickoffice is pretty useful in that you can view, edit and send docx files and the like sent to you by email, which the iPhone normally can't do. It's not super robust, but it works better than the rest of the office suites in the store and there's a 60% off sale going on right now.

Fake Calls is an amusing app that lets you set up fake calls from specific contacts to weasel out of undesirable situations. It only uses the default ringtones, stretches out custom wallpaper and doesn't display long names the same way as the real deal, but apart from that it's very convincing. For $0.99, it's worth a go. Just don't show anyone your phone when you get the call.

Evernote comes highly recommended. It lets you save notes using text, audio and pictures you take with your iPhone camera and uploads them so you can access them from any web-compatible device. Best of all, it's free. You'll need an account to use it, but fortunately that's also free. You can check out their website here.

Wikipanion is an excellent Wikipedia viewer optimized for the iPhone. Among other things, you can bookmark entries and specific sections, look up dictionary terms without leaving the page, save images to the photo library and re-size fonts however you want. I think it's even better than Wikipedia's own offering. It's free, but there's also a premium version for $4.99 that does some fancy stuff like letting you save pages for offline viewing.

Those are some of my favorites. Give them a go if you can.

Games? I've spent a lot of time with the App Store trying to find some of the best ones. These are the best ones that I've found so far:

Aurora Feint II: Tower Puzzles (free)
          Cannabalt
          Eliss
          Hook Champ

          iBlast Moki
Peggle (if you don't already own it, Peggle is perfect for the iPhone)
          Rolando 1 & 2
          Skull Pogo
          Space Invaders: Infinity Gene
Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manner
          Star Trigon
          Zen Bound

You really can't go wrong with any of these, but the ones in bold bear my "highest recommendation".

I deleted that from my iPhone because it's muuuuuuuuch better on PS3. But, if you don't have a choice, go for the iPhone version.

This guy has the choice of PS3.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'd snagged a few of 'em already, like AIM, Wikipanion, Evernote and Pandora. Looking forward to trying out some of the games.

Runkeeper is a free walking/running/whatever mapper, speedometer, altimeter, timer tool. Picked it up a few days ago and I think I can find a lot of uses for this thing.
