The RPG Maker Pavilion website returns today, after being gone for a month. In case you're wondering what happened, I'll explain.
vBulletin 4 had gone gold, and having purchased it (and the publishing suite), I wanted to install it. to do this, all add-ons had to be removed from our current installation, which meant the cmps system the old website ran on. So that was uninstalled, and then vBulletin 4 was installed, and it was awful. It's the buggiest piece of consumer software I have ever dealt with, and it overtaxed the server to the point where it was just dropping offline constantly. It was maybe online for 4 hours in total on the single day we were using it. and when it was online, it was unusably slow.
So I reverted to the backup I made of the site before the upgrade, and now we're back to the old forum software, and everyone is happy because it works and it feels like home again. unfortunately, I made the backup after I uninstalled CMPS. So I had to reinstall it. but then, before I got the chance, my computer died. I was stuck using a PS3 for internet access, and there was no way to re-install CMPS. So I had to get a new computer, and soon, as the pavilion kind of depended on it. So I did. it got here last week. I got all my files off my old hard drives friday, and now tuesday, the website is back online, exactly the way it was before that horrible "upgrade".
Despite being back on the old site (it's almost five years old!), I havent abandoned the big ideas I had for the new site. Pretty much everything that was intended for the new website (except the blog system) will be starting here within the next week or two.
