    The Dreamcast Dreamers

I'm looking to buy a Dreamcast. I only need a working system with everything that is needed to run it (cables and whatnot), a controller, and a VMU. Help me find a good deal? The last person I tried to buy one from on eBay suddenly refunded me all my money for no reason. I am currently in possession of Grandia II and Shenmue, although I'm not sure if they work because they're really scratched up.

Also, recommendations are welcome in this thread.

I want to be playing Grandia II by next week~

Sometimes game stores will have them in stock. On the cheap too. My brother got his at a gamestop for 30 bucks.
Find a dog, honk it's nose. If you are bothered by this sentence. I guess you're just not cool enough for the noses.

Unfortunately, Gamestop carries nothing earlier than the previous gen now. But check used CD stores or mom and pop video game stores.

As for games for the DC, my mainstays were PSO (which I would not recommend nowadays) and Skies of Arcadia (which is a must if you've not played the Gamecube port).

Also, Jet Grind Radio, Marvel vs Capcom 2 (heh), Rez (heh...although it's an import), possibly Soul Calibur (if you care to own the original), Power Stone (for multiplayer), Seaman, and Typing of the Dead if you can find a Dreamcast keyboard.

Obviously, Grandia II and Shenmue are givens, but I'm also a big fan of a little-known game called Ooga Booga. Not worthwhile for single player, but multiplayer split screen is a lot of chaotic fun.

Check a place like play n trade if you have them near you.

This is a good deal. Normally I don't recommend "buy it now" auctions but these are the kind of people that run storefront businesses but offer their products online. You don't have to worry about them suddenly denying you service or anything. Note it doesn't come with an AV cable but that's only about $2.

As for games, there's not much you can't find in a better port on another system. Some recommendations:

          Jet Grind Radio
Grandia II (don't ever touch the PS2 version)
          Chu Chu Rocket
Record of Lodoss War (good Diablo-clone)
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver (better than the PS1 version)
          Shenmue
Elemental Gimmick Gear (a really underrated RPG)
          Bangai-O
          D2
Silver (pretty neat action/rpg but aged poorly)
          Illbleed
Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage
          Maken X

Pretty much every Capcom fighting game released in this era is better on the Dreamcast but check out Rival Schools and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

Grandia II sucks. Which is a shame, because the battle system for it is awesome. The characters, plotting, and blocky graphics are terrible though. It also suffers from the opposite color palette problems of current games where everything is brown; Grandia II is needlessly saturated in color and looks awful for it.

I've played through the *gasp* PS2 port and I know what you mean about everything being needlessly saturated in color. I mainly want to revisit it for because I remember that Ryudo was a lovable asshole, and because the battle system was pretty fun.

I own the original, and cannot get into it for the life of me.

                          ShopGoodwill.com

Sega Dreamcast Console, 4 Controllers, 8 Games, current bid $22.65

Goodwill doesn't guarantee the condition though.

If you can find Project Justice and got people to play it with -- get it. You can't get it on any other console to my knowledge.
