    Nolan North and Steven Blum.

Recent Kotaku topic made me think again about what I already knew.

Are they capable of doing any other type of voices other than the one they're known for in countless videos and games? I appreciate that they're still getting work, but all I hear is the same voices from them. I hear Spike, Toonami robot, Roger Smith, Wolverine, Super Joe ect with the same voice. Then I hear Desmond Miles, Deadpool, Nathan Drake, the new hero in Dark Void, and the latest Prince of Persia in all the same voices.

Keith David, I forgive. Because, c'mon, the man was a friggin' gargoyle that we all loved growing up!

Thoughts? Anyone else you recognize in different works with the same voice that you love or got tired of?

Voice acting is weird, man. There's essentially two types of voice actors. There's the jack-of-all-trade mutants who can do any voice in any tone, like Jim Cummings, Frank Welker, Mel Blanc, etc.

Then there's the ones who just have THE VOICE - they don't need other voices, because the one they have is the one everyone wants to hear. Your Steve Blums, your Mary McGlynns, your Keith Davids - yes, even your Morgan Freemans and Kiefer Sutherlands!

I mean, it's just like if you want Brad Pitt's face, you cast Brad Pitt. If you want Steve Blum's voice, you cast Steve Blum. Only Steve Blum can get around more and do more roles because they don't have to spend money on costumes and makeup and stuff.

Tress McNeill needs to let other voice actresses get some goddamn work.

The whole cast of Code Geass, the Rosetta Stone of anime/game voice acting, could stand to take a rest.

The same people keep getting cast over and over because they're reliable and good and easy to work with and not risky. Getting someone NEW and FRESH is a tremendous risk only the most foolhardy of publishers would ever consider~~

If she did Tara Strong would probably just take them.

Someone said the exact same thing on the IGN boards the other day, and Nolan North has a audio clip of just some of the voices he does, i'll try and find it again and link to it.

Here it is. Nolan North being versatile

Edit 2: here is the link to the ign forum topic, as it has a pretty comprehensive list of the games he is done, and a few might surprise you.

If it's animated or a game and has a female I guarantee you Grey DeLisle, Jennifer Hale, or Tara Strong will voice it. Apparently no other female voice actors exist in the world.

I hear Nicole Sullivan's voice in a lot of stuff. I always recognize it from years of watching MadTV.

Simon Templeman should be cast a lot more.

I heard her in a few things, but not nearly enough for me to be annoyed. Just tv shows like Buzz Lightyear, Kim possible, and Clone High.
