I just recently started working with rpgm1. Do you guys have any tips on how to use the dungeon maker? I seem to have problems overlapping the trees properly. And what tiles do you use to make barriers to outline areas?

The best advice. I can give is to play around with various map items and combine them. Some of the best results are combinations of map and event items. If you combine the two then you will find some combinations that only work this way. After a decade of productions, making unique maps is one of the few ways to set yourself apart from everything that's done before.
Also I'd highly recommend adding event graphics to any premade graphic you use. We know all too well what the premade dungeons look like so something to spice it up is a necessity.
Good luck and happy building!

Also, play a few games to see some of the things other people have done and get an idea of how you can mess around with the tiling. Go for the better games too, since the maps will have more attention to detail. Tsebaoth and the Dynasty Project games I think are pretty good for this IIRC, but it's been a while since I've played an RPGM1 game, so I can't be entirely sure.
