For those of you who arent raging Armored Core fanboys

Trailer for Armored Core:Last Raven. Dear god the CG animation is beautiful. If Fromsoftware ever makes a CG mech movie, I'll buy like 10 copies of the damn thing.

Lots of people seem to have trouble playing it, since its a streaming video, so try out this program. It'll let you download streaming videos.

Basically all the corporations have joined together, and want the ravens to join them. One raven opposed that idea and is getting other ravens to join him, and he plans to wage war on the corporations in 24 hours. Neato.

Supposedly all your actions in missions, have an effect on everything. They said that about Nexus, but it didnt really affect anything. New parts, old parts are getting some adjustments, etc.

Armored Core:Ninebreaker is comming out here pretty soon, but Im not really looking forward to it. It seems pretty bleh, but Ill still get it. It looks like crap compared to Last Raven though.

        There's a new trailer at Gametrailers.com:

        http://gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=1966

The new trailer explains some of the new features, but I honestly couldn't comprehend much of the Asian talky. I do know, though, that there are actual human characters running around during some missions. Try not to step on 'em!

Seriously, though, another interesting thing popped up in the trailer; this time, when a Raven's AC is too badly damaged, instead of collapsing and being explodey all over, the AC friggin' blows to pieces. Like those Incredible Crash Dummies toys. Awesome!

        This game's certainly very story-oriented.

I would call myself a raging Armored Core fan, but unfortunately, I recently picked up and played my copy of AC:N and realized that I sucked without Human Plus/Op-i.

            You mean without?

Hey, at least you weren't PLOW (Human Plus and Overweight).

            .... were you?

I love Armored Core but suck ultimate ass at it.

Any tips on a general idea for a good AC? I was playing Silent Line and a speed oriented AC I made turned out to suck, so any ideas? I'm near the beginning of the game, but have a good amount of cash.

                ....

At least up until Armored Core 3, when they actually punished you for that, I was....

Afterwards I found an AC design specifically good for killing human opponents, but without Op-I, I can't utilize it the way I want to, because I can't get it to fly as much as I could in AC:SL and previous titles. Plus, with dual-weilding hurting your FCS targetting system a lot, it's limited the design's customizeability. I can safely say that this design does NOT require the use of any 'cheap' weapons (Karasawa, 1000 ammo machine gun, etc).

I dunno, maybe I'm choosing the wrong type of legs for AC:N. Maybe I should try reverse joint or something. Maybe I just don't have enough parts yet (even though I don't really want to suffer through all the harder missions one more time just to get them). Or maybe I just hate AC:N a lot for screwing up my Op-I.

That all depends on what you enjoy fighting with. Rockets? Machine Gun? Missiles? Lightweight? Heavyweight? Hover?

When it comes to missions, I have to hunker down and redesign my AC for each mission to be a success. I wish I could blow through it with that perfect design, but I can't. Sometimes I have to resort to being cheap, because some of those missions are damn near impossible (I guess they're supposed to be, but oh well).

On a side note: That was probably the best Armored Core trailer I've seen yet. I would pay hard cash to see an Armored Core movie.

Re: For those of you who arent raging Armored Core fanboys

Personally, I prefer using hover types. They pack plenty of power without sacrificing speed. Oddly enough, few people seem to share the same forte.

My hover staple, Panorama Z, uses both Orchid and Furuna while maintaining borderline S-rank mobility (Around 430). I wanted to be a bit original and kick a** at the same time. He uses a sniper rifle and good ol' Shade. Before the battle comes to a close, I drop my load, pull out me dual FINGERs and start mowing. All that plus the heavy-duty energy EO core. It does damage very quickly. Very sweet.

I recommend using back missiles and a machine gun. If you suck with the blade, get a leftie gun. You also might wanna try shotguns; don't let the power listed in the specs fool you, that's per bullet, and every shot fires a number of them.

I'll let the other peoples give you leg type suggestions.

Re: For those of you who arent raging Armored Core fanboys

lots of things are different in Nexus. I didnt like some of the changes at first, but Ive gotten used to them.

Blades are outclassed in just about every aspect in Nexus. They all have lower attack, and high energy use. And theres no more "blade tracking". That was when you slashed at something in the air, you would be drawn towards the enemy in front of you increasing the chances of making a hit. But even if they did fix blades, you have to get in close to use them. You can deal out way more damage with a gun, and you can keep your distance.

I love heavy wieght, and medium weight biped ACs. I deck them out with bazookas, grenade launchers, an EO core, and rip things to shreds.

Re: For those of you who arent raging Armored Core fanboys

Hover... I might want to try that again. Though I think my major problem with it was that it's more difficult to effectively dodge fire coming at you, because you can't shift left and right as quickly as on a biped.

If you're into Heavy Weight, here's my cheapo combo: EO Core that fires those large energy blasts 2 at a time, Flamethrower on either hand, a rocket/missile launcher in the other, and the Dual Back part that lets out 2 hovering stationary energy turrets that fire at whatever's close by. Let it all loose at the same time and whoever dares step foot near you is either a dead duck in less than 5 seconds, or just lost a ton of AP. With the rocket/missile launcher and EO, you can still hold your own in a long-mid range fight. What type of legs you choose doesn't matter so long as they have good defense and can hold up all that weight. Just make sure you get a good generator and radiator. This is my comp killer, because they just don't know how to stay the **** away from you. It's also an effective way of getting rid of other heavy-weights. Just watch their AP drain away.

You may also want to try that giant back weapon rapid-fire shotgun. If used correctly, it can practically paralyze any mid-light weight AC and drain their AP like a mofo. The only problem is you have to kneel to use it.

I don't like how they stunted the blades. In the first Armored Core, getting a direct hit on someone with a blade was the greatest highlight in AC fights, especially if it's mid-air. It's what made the replay function worth watching. Now without blade tracking and stunted power, there's just no joy in using it anymore. Sure it shreds through your basic MT, but AC fights just aren't the same with them.

And like I said, duel wielding weapons hurts your FCS performance greatly. This is a bad idea if you decide to equip two sniper rifles, because neither will hit as well.

I dunno, I just feel like they took the fun out of the game.

If you don't mind stockpiling, you could always use a quadruped with the linear cannon. They don't have to kneel to use it. They use plenty of energy, though.

Yeah, I never liked quads because of that. You can't boost around as much, and sometimes just walking will bring your energy recharge to a standstill.
