Maybe I'm just spoiled on the (mostly) great writing for LOST, but when I catch a bit of TV in passing (going outside to smoke a cig and catching pieces on the TV upstairs), I really cannot fathom just how horrible most of it is. Seriously, almost everything I hear sounds like a screenwriter forcing not-so-clever dialogue in characters' mouths. It just irks me how these people are making a living writing scripted, flat, far-from-realistic dialogue. Granted, dialogue is not my strong suit either, but methinks I would never put the line, "She's like a delicate flower. Lucky for us, I have a green thumb," in a character's mouth.
That might have read clever on paper, but my god, is that bad. Any other examples you can think of?
