    Dur, I can't fly!

I found something interesting in RPGM3: I created a character with an "Earth" spell, and a bird enemy. Now, in normal RPGs, flying enemies are immune to earth-based spells, because they're not on the earth. And yet, it works perfectly in RPGM3, because the designers didn't see this comming.

Did anybody else find "interesting" things you could do in RPGM3?

Uh, earth spells not being able to hit flying enemies is a mechanic implemented into games by choice of the designers. I'm pretty sure the designers didn't want to force a mechanic like that on the game makers.

You can make a Bird "resistant" to Earth spells either by using the different "Types" (such as Angelic, Demons, Nonhuman, etc.) as Elements, and making your enemy strong against that element, or by going the "Jade Cocoon" route and making Earth spells have some certain common characteristic (maybe poison, maybe low attack but low cost) that your "bird" enemies would do well against. Weren't you one of the (many) people that came up with the "elemental" system several months ago, D?

One more thing, just as an interesting note, yes, some games make flying enemies resistant to Earth attacks, which makes some degree of sense. But then, for example, Pokemon makes flying creatures immune to Ground but vulnerable to Rock-type attacks, and Tales of Symphonia (where spells are fought on a 3-D battlefield and some attacks/spells launch multiple hits) has some Earth spells like Grave which do nothing against flying enemies for the first few spikes that rise from the ground, but can absolutely skewer them with the final hit (which is a huge mountain that pops up into the center of the spell target area), and then knock them out of the air to boot.
