Michigan's a hard place to live. Saying you're from Detroit now carries the weight that saying you were from NYC did in the '70s.

WARREN, Mich. – A 52-year-old man complained only about the cold weather before walking into a diner with a five-inch knife sticking out of his chest. The unnamed man called a Warren 911 operator on Sunday night to ask that an ambulance be sent to Bray's, an eatery in neighboring Hazel Park. He said he had been stabbed during a robbery attempt half a mile away, then walked to the restaurant and called 911 from a pay phone.

On a recording of the call, the man gives a vague description of his attacker before saying, "I'm gonna sit down at Bray's 'cause they got a chair and it's cold out here."

Restaurant employee George Mirdita told The Detroit News the man calmly ordered coffee.

wow that guy is hardcore. if i ever get stabbed i doubt id be worried about getting my caffeine fix, not to mention walking the half mile to get it. id be too busy screaming like a little girl to do much of anything.

It's been much harder than NYC for a few decades now. At least since the mid 80's. Detroit has never really had the gang culture of NYC and LA, but the overall crime is worse.

If you've never been to Detroit, its really hard to understand just how terrible it is. It's unlike any other major city in the US, and I would best describe it as a post-industrial nightmare.

it's seriously disgusting and scary.

I bought weed in this place called Black Bottom once, and there are people living in houses that have collapsed, and it pretty much looks just like a scene out of Fallout.

I don't think getting caffeine in your system while you are bleeding from a knife wound is a very good idea, but goodness what can be said about a man who just shrugs it off and has a cup of joe. I would have loved to see the conversation with him and the clerk. The stab victim ordering all calm and **** while the clerk is scared as hell because the guy has a knife in his chest. That is one tough mofo.

Detroit has sections that don't recieve any police or fire coverage, despite that there are still some people living in those areas.
