I've recently stumbled upon some money

And I want a new game.

The only two contenders I have right now are Uncharted 2 or Arkham Asylum.
So which should I get? Or is there another game I should buy instead? It's got to be for PS3. What about Demon's souls? The thread here for Demon's Souls is big I think. Should I buy that one?

did you play the demos for uncharted 2 and arkham asylum? I would think those would help you make your decision.

uncharted 2's multiplayer would give it some extra longevity.

Demon's souls is a love it or hate it kind of game.
I would really make sure you try it before purchasing it.

I'd personally go with Uncharted 2; the single player is fantastic and the multiplayer is some of the best around.
Bayonetta also comes out very soon, if you have any interest in that.

You can't go wrong with any of those purchases, truth be told. Depends on if you crave ADVENTURE and play Indiana Jones:The Game the Movie, if you want to feel like the MOTHER ****ING DARK KNIGHT, or if you want to experience a rewarding, but BALL CRUSHINGLY DIFFICULT RPG (that is, until you decide to play by its rules).

I think that's me. I've played the demo to Arkham Asylum and thought it was so cool punching bad guys in the face as Batman. I can't decide if I even still like RPGs and Uncharted 2 just seems like a ****ing cool game. So I'll probably get Batman (maybe Uncharted 2), but I've gotta wait until after Christmas cause I don't want to buy it and then get it as a gift from someone.

New plan. I need a game with major replay value. Uncharted 2 or Demon's Souls?

Yes, suggestions are appreciated. I'll see what google knows about Valkyria Chronicles.

Bang for your buck, probably Valkyria Chronicles or Demon's Souls. I've sunk more hours into DS personally, but either is going to last you quite a while. Uncharted 2 is a guaranteed Greatest Hit, so you know you can pick it up for a bargain in a few months.

Demon's Souls is more of an action vibe, while Valkyria's pacing is closer to a traditional strat-rpg, with a lot of the fiddly mechanics streamlined for your enjoyment. Both games offer up a fair amount of challenge, but their difficulty curves are almost the inverse of each other. DS starts out very hard and levels off until New Game+, which ramps up again, while VC starts out easy and continuously introduces new elements until the climax.

The demo for VC should still be available for download.

Re: I've recently stumbled upon some money

I've not played all the way through Uncharted 2 yet, but aside from the (from what I've heard) relatively fun online, the single player has virtually no replay value. Again, just going by what I've heard.

Valkyria Chronicles is at Gamestop now for $20 brand new. Uncharted WILL go GH at some point (probably right before next holiday season), but I have a feeling Demon's Souls will perpetually hold its value until it eventually goes out of print, at which point, it'll hold steady or possibly increase. I'd LOVE to see Demon's Souls become a Platinum Hits title, but I don't think that'll happen in this reality. Then again, Gamespot did just give it overall GOTY, so who knows?

That being said, if you like SRPGs with a slight action-y bent, and a gorgeous watercolor-esque, anime-inspired look, then VC is a great choice, and all three add-ons can be had right now for $9. So for less than $30, you are getting what amounts to what used to be about $80-$85 worth of content.

And with THAT being said, Demon's Souls is the correct choice. If you get it, it's almost assured that you will start over with a different character once you play for a bit, and very early on, you will probably put it down and not want to play it again. But something will gnaw at you to give it another chance, and you will be glad you did. That's my experience, anyway, and seems to be a fairly common one.

Valkyria Chronicles is more of a game you play once and forget about it. But you can easily snag it for $20 these days so there's no excuse not to.

I've been playing the **** out of Demon's Souls, and am loving every minute of it. Dragon Age is supposed to provide tons of value, if you're looking for a massive time sink. Pick up the PC version though if you can swing it.

Other than those, I'd suggest getting Batman because there are tons of challenges and secrets to uncover in that game and it's a lot of fun. Granted, I've only played a few hours of it but it's all aces so far.

I've been wondering, about that actually. Once you beat a mission can you ever go back to try and get a better grade? I've only gotten up to episode 4~

Also, Hard EX mode is only for the skirmishes.
