He added that anyone can buy a watch that tells time — only a truly discerning customer can buy one that doesn’t.
Watches are supposed to tell time. Anyone that buys a watch that's not really a watch, especially for $300,000, is a fool and deserves to be ripped off.
That same money could do so much good in the world, but instead it's wasted on a worthless status symbol/expensive trinket. Hooray.
I dunno, unless all the naysayers in this topic are ready to stay at this level of indignation 24/7, I don't see the point of railing against the excesses of the rich in this topic. Rich people use their money to buy stupid, selfish stuff they don't need all the time.
I use this watch in my underground alchemy laboratory when I'm trying to summon the ancient powers of Czairn Amon and Uriel. If I can't tell if it's night or day the spell just won't work. The watch is made from the Titanic, so I probably shouldn't put it anywhere near ice.
What's the point of having an emergency response system if you can't provoke the wrath of God?
I'm not going to pay 300,000 dollars for something that my body naturally recognizes. I think that everyone has enough of an internal clock to get the time within a few hours, making this watch useless.

Naysayers don't have to stay indignant 24/7 in order to express their thoughts and opinions.
We get to make fun of a $300,000 watch that doesn't tell time. Everyone should.
