I know I shouldn't make "Hey *blank*" topics, but just wanted to know if Mora ever ended up getting around to watching Lilya 4-Ever yet.
To make this topic have an actual point, name the bleakest or most depressing films you've ever seen (first one to mention Grave of the Fireflies gets smacked...list some NEW choices, folks!)
I'd go with [Safe] (of course), Lilya 4-Ever, and Last Exit to Brooklyn as the bleakest I've ever seen.
I'd go with I Stand Alone as the biggest gut-pinch I've ever received from a film...intensely brutal nihilism.
And the more I watch Picnic at Hanging Rock (I think I've seen it 3 or four times now), the more I come to love it, without being sure exactly why. It's got this wholly indescribable vibe to it. It makes me feel something, but I'm not sure what. It makes me think, but not quite sure what about. It stays with me for days afterwards, but I cannot come to grips with why it does.
Anyway, talk about films!
