Golden Globe noms / Oscar noms

I know it's early, but what do you think will be in the hunt? My guesses...

    - The Road
    - Inglorious Basterds
    - A Serious Man

...and I'm sure District 9 will win some technical awards even though I think it should be up there for Best Picture. Watchmen will prolly be up for some technical awards too.

Oh, and they might as well give Christoph Waltz the Oscar for Best Actor already. Nick Cage might get nominated for Bad Lieutenant though, as well as Viggo Mortensen for The Road.

Up will win best animated film.

    As well it should.

I think Star Trek will win at everything forever.

I hope Coraline gets nominated for something. It was, as far as I know, the first released movie to be filmed specifically for 3D as opposed to previous films which were modified after release for 3D.

Of course, Up was also filmed for 3D and will no doubt destroy it but a nomination would give it some notability.

Either way, Avatar will probably win all the technical awards, stealing the thunder from District 9 which was my surprise hit of the year. The Hangover and Zombieland were also surprise hit comedies which will probably get some nominations.

When do they do the Raspberries? I nominate DBZ and Chun-Li for razzies.

Christopher Walken should win every award in every category.

I've not seen any movies yet this year that deserve any awards. Besides Up and District 9, I guess.

Though I've yet to see The Road, Inglorious Basterds or A Serious Man. :V

Re: early Golden Globe / Oscar nomination guesses?

Pirate Radio was very good but it doesn't stand a chance for anything. Maybe Philip Seymour Hoffman for Supporting Actor but I don't think his part was actually big enough. Do the Golden Globes seperate comedy and drama categories?

Star Trek should be nominated for something on the strength of the opening scene alone but the rest of it wasn't that impressive for me. Pike's line, "Your father was captain of a starship for twelve minutes. He saved 800 lives, including your mother's and yours" is one of the chilling line all year. That and the Enterprise in the construction dock were the reasons I saw the movie.

Even though it wasn't what I was expecting Jeremy Renner needs a nomination for best actor for Hurt Locker. I thought the plot was unimpressive and directionless but Renner was amazing for creating tension. I never heard of him until The Unusuals but he was the best part of that show. Better than Adam Goldberg

My two biggest fears for the award shows this year is 2012 getting a special effects award over District 9. You just know this is going to happen because of 2012's sheer scope but District 9's prawns were seamless. I'd like to see it go for Best Picture but if Dark Knight couldn't do it then District 9's got zero chance.

My other fear is the Michael Jackson movie showing up anywhere.
The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

Dudes: nothing is going to get a technical award over Avatar.

Even if it does look slightly better than an Xbox 360 game.

To be honest I don't see much in movies these days that looks much better than an Xbox 360 game.

The movies that will get all the shine and all the ****ing glory are going to be released between Now and late December.

                          Invictus

Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire

                          The Blind Side

                          etc.

                          That is all.

You're forgetting three I think that will be up for nomination.

The men who stare at goats

                            Zombieland

None of those will get nominated.
