If they truly wanted to capitalize on the nostalgia factor of this being the first console (and by that I mean non-handheld) iteration of a traditional Mario sidescroller then yes, they should have.

As far as the red box, I think it's pretty lame business practice to put out license restrictions for a reason (maintaining a specific image and fair marketing) and then completely break them yourself. Phils Aime comes off like he's saying "We think we're better then everyone else, so yeah, we have a red box and you don't."

Not like I really care. The box art isn't particularly appealing.

I didn't care for New SMB on DS and since this one is focused on multiplayer I have even less interest in it. The color of the packaging has no impact on this.
