    Windows 7

Looking to upgrade from Vista 32-bit to Windows 7 64-bit.

I know I need to do a clean install, but I don't know exactly know what that entails and what will happen to all the stuff I currently have. Help?
Nevermind, too much of a hassle. I'll just stick with 32-bit in the meantime and upgrade to 64 when I get a new PC. Really ****** me off that they had to go and make 2 versions like that.

Back up a copy of everything you want to transfer, just in case.

Switch to mac. If you're going to be moving anyway.

I got my laptop over the summer from HP so they should be sending me a compatible 64-bit version of 7 sometime in the next couple of weeks.

That's like saying switch to an abacus if you're going to be moving anyway.

oh come on, don't make the fanboy rule be something we have to move to the free forum as well. :/

PC is needed for gaming, mac is less hassle for basic stuff and a friend of media editing people, and your jokes aren't as clever as you think they are.

Apple is the most successful and celebrated troll, ever, and is the reason I refuse to get a Mac.

Successfully upgraded to Windows 7 (32-bit). Obviously haven't had much time to spend with it but so far it feels and looks great. Little touches here and there.

I almost want to make this my new signature. Maybe later.

Having the 64-bit version and 32-bit version separate is what pretty much all operating systems do, Windows or otherwise. It's standard practice.

I wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista unless you get it for a majorly discounted price. Windows 7 isn't that much different, at least not as different as it should be for how much Microsoft is asking for it. Windows 7 is pretty much all hype.

But, if you REALLY want it, I'm selling my copy on eBay if you want to make an offer:

Even though the auction is for the 32-bit version, the license can be used to install 64-bit.

My friend recently got a new laptop and loves the toggle tool for pulling up different web pages. Other than that, I don't know much about Windows 7.
