Seriously. I was playing my game recently, and I can't beat the final boss! My guys are like level 17, and I remember, I didn't give him AI, so all of his attacks are randomized, but he always uses a group confuse attack, and generally everybody takes eachother out. He can take asprin and can attack twice so he has a chance of healing 1000 hp per turn. After we've powered up we can usually do around 1500 damage a turn so that's not the issue. I suppose I should just keep at it.

Re: I can't beat my own game!
These balancing issues never crop up when you're actually working on the games. :P"What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."

Re: I can't beat my own game!
Well... of course if you can get someone else to try to beat it that helps you make sure it's not just something you're doing wrong strategically, but it sounds to me like you just need to do a better job balancing the effectiveness of a status effects, and/or making the fight less frustrating.
Think what a good game designer might do to "nerf" the confuse effect: Have the enemy use it only in certain circumstances, or give it some sort of drawback, or make skills and items that counter it easier to come by.
More than any other game, I felt this way about the final boss in Persona 3. It took me about twenty-five attempts and about forty hours of playtime to defeat. Every time I got close, it went all "AI Roulette" on me and mixed in moves that made it invulnerable for several turns or inflicted really bad statuses on all of my party members. While there were ways to counter it, for me they required giving up too much of my power to be viable. So in the end, the only way to win was to play perfectly and get really really lucky. Not good boss design.

Re: I can't beat my own game!
So, I finally beat it. *** SPOILERS ***
Kinda an unsatisfiying ending. I just thought it would be funny to end the game that way. Makes me wanna see the Brothel that Bingo's girlfriends' house got turned into.
*** END SPOILERS ***
Maybe I'll make an expansion pack dungeon or something. I always wanted to. Tie up things at the end, and actually fight the dark god Hiro mentions.Last edited by Cutter De Blanc; 05-21-2010, 10:11 AM."Pardon me, I have nothing to say!" -George Carlin
