    Alrighty, lets start contributing.

    So here's the skinny;

I have a PS2. One of the old fat ones, if it matters.
I have a PS3. It is not a backwards compatible model.
I have a copy of the RPG Maker 3 game disk, which runs on my PS2 but not my PS3.
I also have some little doohickey that says "Data Max" on it in the spiderman font. It's about the size of a memory card and describes itself as "PS2 memory card reader", also in spiderman font. One side has a PS2 memory card port, and the other has a port that receives the same cable used to charge the Sixaxis.

Using these items, with the Mac OS 10.5.7 operating system on my computer, is it possible to play the user-submitted games you have stored here on the site? Perhaps by Flashdriving them onto my PS3 hard drive, then moving them onto a memory card with the reader? I'm not very good with technical stuff.
Just call me judge, jury, and a cab.

dont know what the data max is.

go see if you can create a PS2 card on your PS3 under memory card management or whatever its called.

Yeah, I can. Virtual memory cards. I can make PS1 ones too.

then you just need to get a PS3 memory card adapter. download the PS3 format saves we have, transfer them to the PS3 with a USB storage device and onto an internal memory card, then use the adapter to put them on a real memory card for use in a PS2. using the same method backwards, you can share games you make.

Okay. I'll try to find me one of those. Thanks Valk!

just looked into the data max thing. you have everything you need already. it functions the same as the sony memory card reader. just plug it into the PS2 with a USB cable, and it should be able to be used to send saves from the internal memory cards to a real one.

              Okay. New problems...

The Data Max is functioning. My PS3 can now detect my PS2 memory cards.

So the problem is getting a file from my computer onto my PS3. I downloaded Tree of Life and saved it onto a flash, and my PS3 is aware that it has a flash drive plugged into it, but I can't find how to access the file to transfer it onto the memory card.

(I'm going to try using the web browser on the PS3 to download it directly, but I've never bothered with the browser before so this may be an exercise in futility.)

Edit: The browser's asking for a password. I don't remember setting one. So, that path is clearly not going to work.

unzip the downloaded file, and put it in this folder path on the USB device:
PS3/EXPORT/PSV. your PS3 will see it then.

Do I want the PS3 or the PS2 version? And the file itself doesn't appear to be zipped, since it gives me the option of compressing it, which turns it into a .zip file. It's currently a .PSV

you want the PS3 version, since you're going through the PS3.

Well, this thread answers one lingering question that we've had for a while. Not too long ago, I remember someone (possibly you, Valk) wondering if the non-BC PS3s were even able to create a PS2 virtual memory card. With Flaming Mage as our guinea pig (), we now know that it is possible.
