I'm gonna try to summon the motivation tonight/tomorrow to make a small game in a 24 hour period. Key word is small. Began tonight at about 12:50, and I hope to have it finished, in playable form, by tomorrow night at the same time. But you know how these things go.

I've just been in a creative rut for a LONG time. My blog helped for a very short time, but it's hard to summon up the motivation to write in-depth articles. I began one on Flower, but have not finished. I'd like to jar myself back into some sort of creative path, and I'm gonna try it here. But again, you know how these things go with me. Don't get your hopes up.

So far, I've got a basic gameplan, a few art assets (meaning, I made a town, a few buildings, and some artistic decoration...but as this is RPGM3, that does not amount to a whole lot), and a very vague idea of how I want dialogue to flow.

Without going into detail (in case this does not pan out), let's say this idea was partly inspired by the whim of attempting to make a game in a 24 hour period, partly inspired by viewing The International on Blu-Ray earlier today, and partly inspired by my utmost respect for Demon's Souls. I've not been playing it recently...I've not played it for over a week now, but it's constantly in my mind, and I'd like to incorporate a very basic idea of some of that game's mechanics into this one, inasmuch as possible using RPGM3. I seem to have had a decent amount of success in the past making games that are dialogue puzzles or trial and error puzzles, and I'd like to focus in that vein with this project.

One last thing...this will all probably amount to nothing, as usual, but I'm going to try to update this thread throughout the next 24 hours on how it's progressing. First thing I'm going to do is get a notebook and draft a timeline for myself. Until the next post....

Brainstormed a bit, made a single NPC with some simple event coding, a monster, and then decided I need to sleep.

I'm gonna think about this idea while I fall into a slumber, and wake up early-ish tomorrow to continue working on it.

Are you sure you should be using up time worth working on the game to tell us about it, instead? :P

Yes. It keeps me focused on my goal. I was getting ready to go to sleep when I typed the last post anyway.

So far today, I've made 2 characters, with a decent amount of nested branches in each's event code. I also have a better understanding of how I want this to work. Unfortunately, my USB keyboard is a pile of crap, and I'm having to use the virtual keyboard for most of the dialogue. Other than that, it's progressing fairly smoothly, albeit slowly.
