Older episodes are just filled with so much more quality.

I don't know what's worse, The Simpsons' boring writing or Seth McFarlane realizing he practically controls FOX and just stopped trying. The Simpsons is super bland and the last nail in the coffin is when they ham-handed Homer's mom's death or that episode with Lisa creating a fictional world with some lesbian chick.

                    Re: The Simpsons is on

I have seasons 1-11 on dvd. I stopped caring after that. I've seen a handful of episodes since then, and most of them were god awful.

I think a more fun question to ask would be what was the turning point for you in the show's run?

Me? The episode where Homer gets Mr. Burns' yacht for the weekend.

For me it was the The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase. I know it was a spoof of bad TV writing, but it wasn't funny at all.

I think I liked the spin-off with chief wiggum and principal skinner, but it's been years since I've seen it so I dunno :s

The variety hour one was reallllly lame though.

The beginning of the end was Lisa becoming a vegetarian. I think when it finally dawned on me the show was terrible was probably the Treehouse of Horror where the dolphins take over the earth (1999 or 2000 I believe). Either that or the singing episode made up of clips from previous episodes.

In fact, now that I think about the death of originality in many TV shows begins as soon as they have a "past episode clips" episode.

Clip shows are filler to appease the network. I don't consider them to be real episodes.
