So, I Finally Beat Dragon Quest V

Yeah, I beat it on the DS last night. It was the only Dragon Quest game I haven't beaten (that have came out in the US, anyway). I have had it on the SNES for the longest time (import) and the game bored me to tears every time I tried playing it.

I don't know what it is. DQV is considered by quite a few to be one of the best DQ games ever made. I have never been impressed with it at all on the SNES, and every time I started it, I would get to the beginning of the second generation, and then stop playing. For a diehard DQ fan such as myself to consider a DQ game boring, that's saying something, believe me.

But I pushed myself to get through it last night, and the last ten hours of the game or so was actually pretty darn fun. I enjoyed capturing my Great Dragon, and getting Metal King Swords for all of my team members, and then brutalizing the final boss.

Overall, I'm glad I finally beat it and I don't think I will play it again, at least not any time soon. Of all the DQ games, I have to say it was probably one of the weakest in the series, as well as the second shortest (I think I was at the end in 24 hours without trying). That's just my opinion though, most of you will disagree with me and that's fine.

I really hope DQVI comes out soon, since that's my favorite of the whole series. There's been no word on a release date as far as I know.

I'm think going to go beat DQIV again. What are you guys playing?

Note: I probably won't be able to reply much this week due to everything and it's mother needing to be dealt with this week. I just thought I'd share my thoughts.

Edit: Sorry for any spelling/grammar errors. I think I'm going to throw this stupid wireless keyboard in the trash. It isn't acting right.

I dunno, doesn't Japan love V the most? I have to admit, I bought it not knowing it was basically you and a bunch of monsters you have to capture. :s

I've played the first one (NES) and the third one (GBC).

Never beaten them. Never will. Therefore, Bon is very content with your accomplishment.

I don't understand why people force themselves to play videogames.

In the case of Phantasy Star III, it was historical curiosity.

Eh. Why squander your abilities to force yourself to do things you don't wanna do, when it could be focused on something cool and productive.

I can only do things I wanna do.

Later on you get a bunch of human people on your team. Five off the top of my head.

I don't know about that, DQV had about half as many monsters as Pokemon.

After I beat it I can stop thinking about it.

I'm playing it now. Seems to me that it is just like DQVII.

Then you say it is only 24 hours. That sounds glorious compared to the infinity hours of DQVII...

But yeah...I remember as a youngin really liking the way DQIV told its story. DQIII was great to and DQI is a classic (although a wretched game).

I played slots for like 25 minutes and got 5 watermelons and now my main guy has a metal king sword and the green haired guy has that super whip and I just started generation II, heaehae.

Well, how was DQVIIII different from DQVII?

I saved the game saving before playing the slots, and then I reloaded my save every time I lost everything, betting the most money each time. Every character that can have a Metal King Sword has one in my file, because I got over 300,000 coins in one move doing that.

I liked DQVII more than DQV, it was longer and had job classes, which DQV does not have. With the exception of DQVIII, the DQ games without customizable job classes I feel are the weaker ones.

                            In my opinion:

                            DQVIII > DQVI > DQVII > DQIII > DQIV > DQV > DQII > DQI

From what I've played of DQIX so far, I like it.

It was different because it was like ten times better.
