    Oblivion Mods and Patches

I just got the game on the PC. What are some essential mods and patches I should get? And how do I install them? (Please, no nude mods.)

Also, anyone know a legal way to get the expansion stuff cheap?

Er. Isn't Kvatch a place in Morrowind?

amazon. buy the standalone expansion discs.

mods I've installed all came from TESnexus.com.

          they are:

OBSE - Oblivion Script Extender. neccesary for a lot of mods.
Streamline - fixes a lot of the horrible scripting problems bethesda made. every machine will get a huge performance boost with this.
The unofficial oblivion patch - fixes all the bugs bethesda added to the game. first install the newest official patch (from bethesda's site), then install this. I havent seen any flying horses since I installed it.

and that's it. I tried out the morrowind mod that turns oblivion into morrowind (you also need morrowind for it), but it runs at maybe 10 fps for some stupid reason.

with pretty much any mod you download, it'll give you really clear instructions. most just get dumped in the data folder. after installing OBSE, you'll have to start oblivion through it from then on, but will still need to go to oblivion's normal startup screen to turn the mods (data files) on.

might want to install oblivion mod manager too, makes some of the mod business easier. but I've never bothered with it.

The standalone discs are twice the price of what I paid for Oblivion.

              http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...4796455&sr=8-1

shivering isles (the only add-on worth getting, in my opinion) will run you 8 dollars shipped, used. oblivion doesnt use activation keys. my copy didnt, anyways. so buying used should be fine.

official plugins (like horse armor, and various elaborate houses and castles) can only be purchased through bethesda's site.

Hmm. Maybe I'm thinking of Khuul. This fishing village on the island. I get Elder Scrolls locations mixed up.

Any mods for making people look like people and not circus freaks?

get one of the patches that fixes the levelling system. unless you're the kind of person who doesn't enjoy the feeling of progress in a game.

I didn't have a problem with the leveling system.
