Konami remaking Rocket Knight Adventures for PSN/XBLA

I don't know how to feel.

edit: Oh, it's a sequel to the Genesis game. greaaaaat.

Well, I guess I feel vague disappointment and annoyance.

It appears as if I have pitched a tent.

    In my pants.

    Excuse me.

I think they're going the right way about it, releasing it as PSN/XBLA. And of course they went 2D, which is good.

I just saw the screenshots, though, and was immediately turned off. It doesn't look Sparkster to me.

We'll see when it apparently comes out early 2010.

I'd feel more comfortable w/ it being a remake but we'll see.

            I agree w/ Highwind.

              I...

              I don't know

Yeah, I mean, the graphics in the original game - the backgrounds, even the HUD - were elegant.

This is, like... I don't know what they're going for.

everything in the screenshots looks to me like it belongs more on someone's desk than in a video game. like it's a diorama.

It looks like it was made with LittleBigPlanet.

I don't give two ****s about the graphics I just hope that the developers know what made the first game great in the first place, and apply those concepts and philosophies into the gameplay.

Man, you people complaining about the graphics. I've already removed you from my Christmas card lists.

Both Rocket Knight Adventure games and the Sparkster spinoff on the SNES had their own unique feel. The original RKA had linear levels with a heavy focus on boss battles (as a kid, I always called that little section after the 1st level "The Gauntlet" where you basically run through 2 minute long screens and fight like 10 bosses throughout). RKA2 and Sparkster were more of traditional platformers with heavier emphasis on the level design.

This game looks cool and whatever style they go for; heavy action or fun level design, gets an okay from my book. I haven't played the Silent Hill games by the company in question, but the biggest criticism I've read so far is that they're too heavy on action with a control scheme that isn't action friendly. Sounds like these guys are better suited to making a 2D sidescroller.

                          Edit: *** SPOILERS ***
Please post if the theme song from RKA started playing in your head automatically.

Well, I never played the original and all I see from screenshots are weird graphics.

Can I still get an imaginary christmas card?

                              I send out real cards.

Unless your name is Gloom in which case your card will take 6 months for delivery after being dropped, burnt, smeared with grease and shoved in your mailbox slightly moist.
