Re: A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010
Yeah really. I mean a lot of movies always have the chance to be improved when they are remade thanks to new technology (though it never seems to make a difference quality-wise). But the original movie is actually pretty great and I think it achieved everything it set out to do :s
And yeah, the Freddy voice and face kinda blow.Last edited by DK; 09-29-2009, 08:00 PM.

If you want to appeal to people who won't watch old movies then what would be the point of connecting your new movie with an old one. Slap a different title on it and it'd still be a slasher date movie.Originally posted by John Mora View PostTo get money from teenagers/young adults that just want something to take their date to on Friday night and that refuse to watch old movies.I want that Mulan McNugget sauce, Morty!

Re: A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010
I'm going to wait until I see it to pronounce it 'crap'. Not that I'm particularly excited for this movie.
I just get so tired of the same comment being used over and over: "This sucks! It doesn't have the original Freddy in it!" Well no ****, Sherlock. How many remakes/re-imaginings/reboots/other-Hollywood-bull****-euphemisms feature the an actor portraying the very same character in both versions?
Also, it's not like they cast some random ex-wrestler unlike Rob Zombie did for Halloween (in my opinion the worst movie that I've seen in the last ten years). Jackie Earle Haley's been nominated for an academy award and even Robert Englund approves of the casting decision.
The voice I will agree with(he sounds drunk), but about the face, we don't even really get a good look at it... looks fine to me. Burn victims aren't supposed to look like the original Freddy, really.Originally posted by DreamknightAnd yeah, the Freddy voice and face kinda blow.

Re: A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010
My problem with the new face isn't so much the way it looks as the fact it doesn't look like he'll be able to emote nearly as much. And the fact that it's more realistic, it doesn't make sense to go for realism in a movie that's all about nightmares. Also they've mentioned they're going for less humor, that ruins the movie for me right there. The best thing about Freddy was that he had so much fun torturing kids. And then to see so many of the same scares in the trailer, makes it seem like they're changing the spirit of the movie but keeping the same events which would make it feel like a different movie but not like a new one.
I was willing to enjoy this as a new version of ANoES until I saw this trailer. If they're just going to repeat the same movie but "darker, grittier, edgier" I have no interest in seeing it. Because I've seen enough things that tried that and none of them have been worthwhile.I want that Mulan McNugget sauce, Morty!

Re: A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010
As soon as I saw "Produced By Michael Bay" I immediately began thinking about the "Nuke our imagination" scene from South Park. Instead of the original ending the military will create a portal to the dreamworld and kill Freddy but not before several carriers are sunk in awesome explosions.
