I think they do use cellos sometimes, but I would never consider them screamo.

They don't scream enough to be screamo. I like Domestica alright but I feel Cursive really improved with each subsequent album, going from semi-autobiographical angsty rock to self-parody (The Ugly Organ) and concept album about the seedier side of small-town life (Happy Hollow).

I haven't heard their latest yet but I've seen their performance on Letterman and I enjoyed it quite well. Even Letterman seemed impressed.

Better than any Rolling Stone review, I daresay.

Cursive is the band with the guy from the Good Life which is better.

I thought Saddle Creek was awesome when I was in high school, but since then I haven't really been able to get into any of those bands.

Same here, pretty much. I'll still listen to them once in a while, at least the older stuff I listened to back then, (Cursive, Criteria, a few Bright Eyes songs -- all I can stand these days, and Azure Ray) and I still love Rilo Kiley (though they're not on that label anymore), otherwise... for the most part I'm beyond that scene at this point.

                    lol music opinions

For some reason I found music the most objective of the arts, as I can understand and agree with what is "good" and "not good" when it comes to film, games, visual art. When it comes to music, people are all over the map.

Then, doesn't that make, music, subjective? Not, objective?

Yeah, Cursive's new album Mama, I'm Swollen is great too. A little less indie, more angst (yay!)
Check out the track What Have I Done? One of my favorite songs right now.

Album #2: Songs From the Big Chair by Tears For Fears
                            Release: 1985
                            Genre: New Wave

Description: This album remains timeless because of the vast range of emotions it spans in only 8 tracks.
At times the sound is low and demeaning, somber and reflective, joyful and optimistic,
and even uplifting versus defeating. Multiple instruments make up the pieces from horns, to synth, to strings,
to offbeat percussion instruments. Great album for anyone who is a fan of eighties New Wave,
and arguably the pinnacle of the genre at its time.

                            Notable Tracks:
                            Shout
                            Broken/Head Over Heals
Everybody Wants to Rule the World

I like Domestica and the Ugly Organ. They are angsty yes, but they are not totally overwrought and are mostly honest. Later bands they inspired scream too much and tend to conceptualize from an imaginary world filled with only pain. Later Cursive albums are okay, but are pretty boring to me, probably because they are a bit redundant.

Tears for Fears are pretty boring as well. The world influences give some illusion to variety, but as white people often have the tendency to do, their interpretations come across as homogenized.
