Description: Grandoble is a game created for the Speedy RPG Maker Contest. Play as 6 unique characters as you battle to defeat a world domination inspired evil. Featuring a party changing system and relatively easy battle system, it’s a great short game to play! Can you defeat the evil and save the world?
Grandoble is a nice short game. It’s easy to tell why this game won the Speedy RPG Maker Contest. The amount that was created within the 15 hour time limit was amazing.
The game play is fairly easy, featuring battles that can usually wrap up in just two turns. I recommend equipping multiple weapons rather then shields as you can breeze though the regular enemies much faster. I especially like how even my mages could destroy them with their wands.
To be expected the game was light on additional features. Very little was interactive and there wasn’t anything that could pass as a mini game. The game did sport a neat quick and dirty party change system which was very useful in picking your main party and allowed for emergency change ups at every dungeon save point.
Magic was useful in boss fights, though it did come far too fast, overwhelming me with spells. I didn’t encounter one boss that I couldn’t easily smash into dust. The games items where relatively balanced, allowing for a small boost as the game quickly progressed.
The story was short and sweet, nothing to write home about but done fairly well in the time frame. I didn’t encounter any bugs during my play through besides possibly having a mage equip a dagger that they maybe should have been able to.
Overall it was a pretty good game for so little amount of time.
