....besides all of the Warriors titles? Well, any of them worth playing? I used to get into playing Dynasty Warriors 3 and 4 and Samurai Warriors was fun but after a while...eh. I like their cross-over titles because the stories were, well...different and new for a change. But do they have anything else besides those games? Even old games I may have missed?

Re: Are there any other games made by KOEI...
KOEI has an enormous catalog but aside from Dynasty Warriors their other famous works are historical simulations. Kessen follows Tokugawa in his domination of Japan and is a pretty accurate war game (that was damn impressive as a PS2 launch game). Kessen II and III have more fantastic elements like magic and stuff. Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a long running series based on the book of the same name. The series is known for its depth and extensive character creation which lets you chart entire family trees. Then there's Nobunaga's ambition which is similar to Romance but set in Japan instead of China.
Of course, all of this depends on whether you fancy yourself an armchair general. Someone who considers Dynasty Warriors KOEI's finest titles probably won't find anything enjoyable in the click fests that are their strategy games.
edit: Most of Goufunaki's list, like Atelier Iris, are games published by KOEI and not developed. Don't know if that makes much of a difference to you but I'm just putting that out.Last edited by marcus; 09-22-2009, 08:37 PM.

Re: Are there any other games made by KOEI...
I could get into the Romance of the Three Kingdoms games, but I always forget to try it. I love strategy games. Dynasty Warriors isn't so much strategy as much as all out action with some (albeit, fabricated) historical references. Warriors Orochi was fun while it lasted but I am kind of looking into some strategy. The Empires versions of the Warriors titles are fun but if RotTK is anything like Age of Empires or anything similiar I could get into that. Ain't their another game like New Horizons that was made by KOEI? It was heavy on sailing and trading, and even had combat...or maybe it wasn't KOEI. And damn, I forgot all about Bladestorm.
And yeah, I think I'm screwed as far as the SNES titles...Last edited by Dallas Alvis II; 09-22-2009, 08:47 PM.------------

Saiyuki Journey West is a pretty fun strategy RPG and much like others in its class (Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, Vandal Hearts). i recommend that one to try if you enjoy those types of games.Last edited by Manji; 09-22-2009, 09:18 PM.

Re: Are there any other games made by KOEI...
The first Koei game I ever played (and realistically, probably the first game where I began to pay attention to the dev/publisher) was Nobunaga's Ambition on the old monochrome Gameboy. Later got Gemfire for the SNES, which is basically Romance/Nobunaga's with a swords and sorcery coat of paint.
I do not remember ever having played any of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms games. Got one of the PS2 ones a while back, but have yet to play it.
And Winback surprised me when it came out for the N64 (the PS2 version is a port). I ALMOST wanted to buy it just for the KOEI name, but never did, even though it got respectable reviews.
That being said, I've never played, nor do I plan to play in the future, any of the Dynasty Warriors games. Closest I've come to that genre is the first Kingdom Under Fire for the original Xbox (which, even with its barest minimum of strategy, looks like Civ compared to Dynasty Warriors) and 99 Nights for the Xbox 360, and then only because I like Tetsuya Mizuguchi and figured a mindless button masher vs hundreds of enemies onscreen with a then next gen coat of paint would be fun now and again.
