These people are trying to cry foul because they lost, 83-0. I think the losing team is the one that needs some sportsmanship lessons. I can understand wanting to implement the mandatory running clock, but no one should have to justify a victory that was won fair and square.

How about allowing them to see it as a motivational experience? It was a fair freaking game and you can't win them all.

What do you propose is done? They are high school students, they shouldn't be coddled. This kind of thing happens in the real world and they aren't going to have their mommies and daddies there to artificially alter the results so they don't feel so bad.

I can probably think of better ways to motivate someone than to crush them and see if they come back from it. In any case, I'm sure you'll make a great father with ideas like that.

Besides, what makes you think this game was fair? This isn't the NFL. High schools don't have salary caps and market-sharing to ensure parity. The differences in funding and overall quality between high school sports programs are huge. That's why it's generally assumed that you'll have better sportsmanship than to run it up like that.

...three of the touchdowns came on returns. And... a blocked punt brought a fourth... his team threw just one pass in the second half. One that was played with backups...

Looks like they would have had to have tried remarkably hard not to run up the score like that.

Jesus, what a bunch of ****in babies. If you play a sport, especially if you are in high school, you should know damn well that there are times you will loose and times you will win, and if you just so happen to play against a really good time, you should get your ass handed to you.

Life doesn't have a "oh I am loosing, bail me out" card.

Of course there are, and screw you for assuming how capable I will be as a father based on something as trivial as this.

If you raised a child, based on what I have gleaned from you in this topic, they would grow up dependent on others and incapable of dealing with disappointment. My opinion is pretty well reflected in everyone else's post.

These are high school students, not 8 year old kids. In a few years, maybe less, these kids will be in the real world, and the real world is filled with crushing defeats. The real world isn't fair. Some people are better than others, and those people shouldn't have to pull their punches so other people don't feel bad.

But, I'm not saying its okay to purposely crush an opponent for the sake of humiliating them.
