    Nintendo's Q4/Q1 lineup

The shovels were working overtime to get ready for the holidays.

Aside from exactly 2 DS games (one of which I already have preordered), one (?) DSiWare game (might need to break down and upgrade to a DSi), and a few WiiWare titles, nothing on this list even comes close to interesting me.

Only things I have any interest in on that list are Infinite Space and Nostalgia for the DS, the Electroplankton game(s) (?) for DSiWare, and Cave Story (from everything everyone's been saying), LostWinds (possibly...don't know too much about it yet), and possibly the Bit.Trip games for WiiWare.

And really, that's about it. Anyone else see Nintendo continuing its 40% drop in sales, 60% drop in income that it posted for the last fiscal quarter after the holiday season is over?

And since when is Warner Interactive publishing Lego Rock Band?

Oh, and I'm not sure if the $50 price drop on the Wii (Toys R Us ads for a $199 Wii are on the internet, in case you've not seen) will help matters too much if that's the lineup.

Here's my cynical view of the Wii...customer A buys one due to the hype, gets it home, realizes it's not all that fun after a while, but when friend (customer B) drops by, customer A gets excited and shows customer B stuff like Wii Sports in order to feel good about his (or her) purchase. They have fleeting fun, and customer B goes out soon thereafter to buy a Wii, and comes to the same realization that customer A did, and repeats the cycle.

Granted, I'm referring to "non-gamers" here, who are Nintendo's current core audience, but the cycle has to end somewhere when people begin to see the Wii as just a pricey novelty, and they have only so many friends to invite over to feel good about their purchase. I'm pretty sure this cycle might have begun to break down in the past half a year, as evidenced by Nintendo's 2nd quarter report. Yeah, they will make sales during Christmas, there's no doubt, but I'm gonna speculate right now that they will be nowhere NEAR what they were for the past 3 holidays.

I dunno. There are a LOT of kids out there, and most of them love the Wii.

Me, I want Mario & Luigi 3 and maybe New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

And Cave Story if it ever happens.

I want the new DSiware shantae game that I saw on gonintendo.

and a lot more. look at the "year end onslaught" topic for my list. there's more games I want coming out for the nintendo platforms this year than any other system. and then in january, we get tatsunoko vs. capcom, and some other goodies too.

I'm kinda interested in Mario & Luigi 3, but realistically I'll never get around to playing it.

Obviously, you and I don't breathe the same air.

            *skims the list*

I'm with Perv, though. I'm only interested in one, maybe two, of those titles.

WHAT!?! Gotta find that link NOW

edit: Good god, it looks effin' beautiful. Maybe it's the small screen size but I hope those sprites are anti-aliased. I always hated how blocky and unappealing 2D DS games looked.

When I read that list, I had no idea what this shantae game was. I thought it might have been one of those Imagine-style games based on being an R&B/Soul diva due to the name.

oh no. Shantae was an incredible (but obscure) platformer for the GBC. fortunately, the developers still have much love for the character and world, and are finally able to bring the series back via DSiware.

it's a great thing, and if I didnt already have a DSi, I'd be getting one RIGHT THE **** NOW for the game.

There was going to be a GBA Shantae but they never got the idea out the door. Lots of beautiful concept shots, though.

Shantae reminded me of the better Monster World games. I wouldn't mind seeing Monster World 4 make its way to the Virtual Console even if it is in Japanese. There's a fan translation, I'm sure no one would say anything if Sega based a translation off that.
